The Women in White Ceremony on Bayou St. John (Bayouk Choupic), held on St. John’s Eve, is a mystical and deeply spiritual event. As twilight falls, practitioners gather along the bayou, dressed in flowing white attire, to honor St. John the Baptist and seek blessings, healing, and protection. This sacred ritual blends African traditions, Catholic elements, and local New Orleans Voodoo beliefs. With chanting, drumming, and offerings, the ceremony creates a powerful connection to the spirit world, celebrating both the ancestral past and the present energy of the bayou's sacred waters.
